Complete Media Sampling

AGES and ConServ staff members have completed hundreds of projects involving the assessment, delineation and clean-up of PCB-affected soil, concrete, paint, sediment, groundwater and non-porous surfaces. We are knowledgeable of the unique sampling requirements of the PCB Mega-Rule and experienced in the collection of concrete and paint chips as well as the completion of template-based wipe sampling. Our experience ranges from small projects to those including thousands of square feet of impacted concrete and hundreds of cubic yards of PCB-affected soil.

Our staff has pioneered the use of immunoassay testing kits to screen soil and concrete samples in the field. These kits employ a two (2) step sample analysis system that can be used in the field to provide real-time field analytical results that correlate with lab results. As a result, we are able to identify samples that contain PCBs greater than a pre-determined limit (e.g. 1 ppm, 25 ppm or 50 ppm). The field testing results provide a quick means to determine whether additional removal of affected media is required prior to confirmatory sampling for standard laboratory analysis.

We have successfully applied this technology on hundreds of projects to eliminate costly re-digs and remobilizations, reduce the volume of soil excavated and associated disposal cost, and cut the time frames for remedial projects by 50% or more. Overall, we have a track record for success on PCB remedial projects that is unmatched in the field.
