Excavation is the fastest clean-up method to mitigate PCB contamination and we have extensive experience with removing PCB impacted soil safely, quickly and efficiently. We can perform large scale excavations to small scale trenching while managing wastes and PCB-impacted materials in accordance with TSCA and DOT regulations. Depending on excavation size requirements, we have a variety of equipment options for the removal of all types of materials.
During the excavation process, we can determine the extent of PCB contamination through the use of immunoassay test kits. These kits provide real time analysis of potentially contaminated soil samples. Because there is no need to wait for a laboratory analysis, excavation can continue in most cases without any delays, allowing for a more efficient work flow and little time loss.
In accordance with EPA regulations, any soil generated onsite will be staged on plastic and covered overnight to protect the surrounding areas from cross-contamination. At the conclusion of each day, open excavation will be barricaded in adherence to the strictest safety requirements. Finally, at the end of the project, we can perform backfilling activities using the required clean materials to complete any project.
